January 25, 2017In Canada, therapy fees may be covered by your extended health benefits, provincial auto-insurance company (e.g., ICBC), Workers Compensation (Worksafe BC), Criminal Injuries Compensation or Employee Assistance Programs. For example, most employers’ extended health benfits plans (e.g., Pacific Blue Cross, Sunlife, Canada Life, etc.) provide at least some coverage for the services of a registered psychologist (for the employee and often for a partner and dependents). You may want to check your benefits package with your employer or contact Oakhill Counselling to ask how to find out if some or all of your therapy might be covered. A general rule of thumb is that if you have dental coverage, you are also likely to be covered for therapy with a registered psychologist.
The current fee for a 50 minute therapy session is $140.00.
I do offer a limited sliding scale based upon financial need, if you would like more information about this please contact my office. Also, depending upon the issue, it may be possible to meet initially for a number of sessions weekly and then spread the sessions out over a longer period of time(e.g., every two weeks or once per month). This still allows for regular therapeutic contact to track progress and address any obstacles that may arise, while making it more affordable financially.
