Introduction

As a psychologist I have nothing new to tell you…
and that’s why I think you will find this site helpful.
Psychology is a relatively young discipline – it is arguably a little over 100 years old. Clearly, the study of the human condition didn’t simply start at the University in Leipzig, Germany in 1879. Much of what we are discovering in current psychological research, has been previously identified at different times throughout human history, in widely different cultures around the globe and in different disciplines of study – from philosophy to science to poetry.
Everywhere I go I find a poet has been there before me
~ Sigmund Freud
I like to look for patterns, because when ‘data points’ start to converge in one area it just might be worthwhile to see what we can learn by looking there. So, what you will find on this site is practical psychology education and I will try to show that “there is nothing new under the sun” – because the sage, poet, monk or roman emperor was there first! In fact, you don’t really need to watch my videos or read my articles because if you read through the ‘Quotes’ which you will find on most pages of this site (refresh your browser to see a different quote), you will find lots of helpful wisdom there – and the authors say it more concisely than I can. But I hope that you will check out some of the videos and articles found here as I’ve tried to organize the ‘data points’ in a way that might be helpful to someone curious about how psychology can be applied to living a more balanced and contented life.
As you explore psychologist1.com, you will notice that there are different Levels assigned to articles and videos – Level I, II & III found throughout the site.
LEVEL II

This level contains information regarding ‘psychological healing’ which may help you to better understand psychological, emotional and interpersonal difficulties – e.g. anxiety, depression, grief, loss, relationships.
LEVEL III

This level contains information on ‘balanced living’ and ways to live a more contented, mindful, compassionate and peaceful life.
I truly hope you find information which will assist you in living well.
Regards,
